Overview

With generous financial support and product donations, manufacturers are a critical component of Meatout's ever-growing success. Food remains a central feature of Meatout with feed-ins, food samplings, cooking demonstrations, public and private meals, food-rich festivals, and the annual Congressional Reception acting as vehicles for Meatout's healthy, compassionate message. On or around March 20th (the first day of spring), thousands of veggie enthusiasts, animal activists and consumer advocates arranged colorful Meatout events in all 50 states, a few US territories, and 23 other countries. Organizers distributed massive amounts of meat-free and dairy-free food, 20,000 product coupons & 50,000 handouts..

Web Promotion

The Meatout website is the primary method of information dissemination to Event Coordinators, media, and new visitors. All our outreach pointed to the website with free Product, Action Kit, Event Pack & Vegetarian Starter Kit offers. Manufacturers received specialized promotion and active banners & links on several high-traffic Meatout pages: including, Activists, Industry, Supporters, Meatout Reports, and the Home Page for Sponsors. We also provided a link to donating manufacturers on top of the home page during peak product request times.

Increased Scope & Website Traffic!

Hundreds of billboards and bus cards offered free Vegetarian Starter Kits in Atlanta, Baltimore, Cleveland, Houston, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.
Proclamations urging citizens to explore a wholesome, nonviolent diet of vegetables, fruits, and grains were issued by the governors of Louisiana, Nevada, Rhode Island, and West Virginia and mayors of a dozen major cities.
Celebrities Casey Kasem, Mary Tyler Moore, Ed Asner, James Cromwell, Jennie Garth, and Bill Maher were the headliners.
150 newspapers and radio stations carried interviews and letters to the editor.
Hundreds of e-lists with recipient numbers in the tens of thousands receive invitations to participate in Meatout. Manufacturer information was included in select, targeted postings.

Meatout Mondays, Veg Kits & Conference

During and after Meatout, manufacturers and sponsors received benefits, such as mention in the colorful Meatout Monday's e-newsletter with 5,000 recipients. Manufacturers could also choose to provide coupons for distribution or products and literature for the annual Animal Rights National Conference.
